Privacy Policy

The app
Rereader has no accounts, no analytics, no telemetry, and no cloud. Your highlights, notes, and reading activity are stored in a database on your own Mac and are never transmitted to us. We cannot see your library; there is no server of ours for it to reach.
The app makes network requests in exactly two cases, both under your control:
- The daily email you configure. Rereader sends your digest through the email provider you connect (your own Resend account, or your own SMTP server). Your highlights travel directly from your Mac to your provider to your inbox. Your provider's privacy policy governs that delivery; we are not in the loop.
- Optional book covers. To fetch cover art, the app queries the keyless Open Library API with a book's title and author only. You can turn this off in Settings, and the app works fully offline without it.
The iPhone app
Rereader for iPhone mirrors your Mac library through your own iCloud account (Apple's CloudKit, private database). Your highlights travel Mac → your iCloud → your phone, and review events travel back the same way. We operate no server in that path and cannot read the data; Apple's iCloud terms govern its storage. The iPhone app has no accounts, analytics, or telemetry of its own, and collects no data — as declared on its App Store listing.
Purchases
When you buy Rereader, checkout is handled by Stripe; we never see or store your card details. We receive and keep what Stripe passes back: your email address and the purchase record. Our delivery service emails your download link via Resend, and downloads are served from Cloudflare. Those three processors' policies apply to the data they handle (Stripe, Resend, and Cloudflare are widely used, audited providers).
We use your email address to deliver your purchase and answer your support messages. No marketing lists, no newsletters, no sharing or selling of your address, ever.
This website
rereader.app uses DataFast, a cookieless, privacy-focused analytics service, to count visits and see which pages people read. It sets no cookies and stores no personal information; we see aggregate traffic, never who you are. The pages themselves are static, served by Cloudflare, whose standard server logs (IP addresses, requests) are governed by Cloudflare's own policy.
Your rights
- Deletion: email us and we'll delete your purchase records, subject to legally required accounting retention on Stripe's side.
- Refunds: 7 days, no questions — see the Terms of Service.
- Your data: was never ours. It's on your Mac; the app exports it to Markdown and JSON with one click.
If this policy ever changes, the date at the top changes with it.
